About this Cookie Policy
Thanks for choosing Shoptopus. When you install one of the apps we build or use any of the services we provide, you accept the practices set out in this Cookie Policy. It explains the cookies and similar technologies we rely on, the reasons we use them, and the choices you have for controlling them.
Shoptopus operates a suite of Shopify apps that help merchants run their stores more efficiently. For example, our Invoice Generator app lets merchants produce and personalize business documents such as invoices, packing slips, credit notes, return labels, and shipping labels, and our Bulk Image Upload app lets merchants update large numbers of products in just a few steps. Any new capabilities or tools we add to these services in the future are also covered by this policy.
We may revise, update, or restate this Cookie Policy, along with any other terms or rules published on our website or within our apps, from time to time. We will make a reasonable effort to let you know when meaningful changes are made, but the most current version always applies. If you continue using our website or apps after a revised version is posted, you will be treated as having accepted the updated policy. If you do not agree with the policy as updated, please discontinue using our website and apps.
What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves to your computer or device when you visit it. The Shoptopus website uses several categories of cookies, including strictly necessary, performance, functional, and analytics cookies. Cookies improve your browsing experience by letting a site remember your choices and actions, such as a login or a regional preference, so you do not have to re-enter the same details every time you return or move between pages. They also help us understand how visitors use a site, for instance whether someone is a first-time or a returning visitor. You can learn more about how we handle the information gathered through these technologies in our Privacy Policy.
What cookies do we use and why?
Strictly necessary cookies
Some cookies are required simply to let you browse the website, use its core features, and reach secured areas. Without these cookies the site cannot function properly. As an example, we use session-based user-input cookies to retain what you enter when you complete a form that spans more than one page.
Functional cookies
We use functional cookies to remember decisions you have made or details you have shared, such as your username, preferred language, or region, so we can adapt the experience to your preferences. Authentication cookies, for instance, are functional cookies used during a session, or kept for longer if you choose a "remember me" option, so you can sign in on later visits and reach content reserved for you across pages. The functional cookies we use include:
- Security cookies that help us spot misuse of the sign-in process, such as repeated failed login attempts, kept for a limited period to make the service safer.
- Media player session cookies that store the technical settings needed to play help-center video or audio content, such as image quality, connection speed, and buffering details, for the length of a session.
- Load-balancing session cookies that identify the correct server in our pool for a session so requests are routed to the right place.
- Interface-preference cookies that remember how you like a service to be displayed across pages.
Performance and analytics cookies
Because we care about the experience we deliver, we use a number of tools to keep improving our website and our apps. Performance and analytics cookies collect information about how, and how often, our website and our merchants' storefronts are used. These cookies gather data only for statistical purposes and rely on pseudonymous identifiers that do not directly identify you. The performance cookies we use include:
- First-party analytics cookies, we use these to estimate visitor numbers, improve our own sites and our merchants' sites, and understand which search terms lead people to a page. They are not used to target you with advertising; they simply help us see how our apps perform so we can make them better.
- Third-party analytics cookies, we also use Google Analytics and other third-party analytics providers to help measure how visitors engage with our content. These cookies record how users have interacted with earlier pages on the site. You can read more on Google's own information page about how Google Analytics works.
How long do cookies stay on my device?
How long a cookie remains on your computer or mobile device depends on whether it is a "session" cookie or a "persistent" cookie. Session cookies are removed once you finish browsing, while persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. Most of the cookies we use are persistent and typically expire somewhere between 30 minutes and two years after they are saved to your device. See the next section for how to remove cookies before they expire.
How to control cookies
You have several ways to manage and control cookies. Please note that blocking or deleting cookies may reduce the quality of your experience, and some parts of our apps may stop working as intended.
Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but you can decide whether to accept them using your browser's settings, usually located in a "Tools," "Settings," or "Preferences" menu. To learn how to adjust your browser, or how to block, manage, or filter cookies, check your browser's help documentation or a resource such as www.allaboutcookies.org.
